Your session will be introduced and concluded by an MC – either an itSMF reviewer, state or Conference chairperson. Your MC will facilitate any Q&A time that your session may have and ensure that your session runs to time.

Your session slot is a total of 50 minutes long. This includes any questions from the audience, and the introduction and thank you by your MC. Friendly SlatteryIT staff will indicate when you have FIVE minutes remaining, TWO minutes, and when you must conclude immediately. Your full biography will be included in the program booklet. Please do not spend any of your presentation time introducing yourself.

Please be ready to take the stage at least five minutes before your presentation starts, to ensure a smooth transition between speakers.

You are strongly encouraged to pay a visit to your allocated room in the break before your presentation to test that your slides are the correct iteration and ready to go.

Presentation Confirmation Statement

Please note that all speakers are provisionally accepted onto the program pending the confirmation of a speaker supporter’. It is up to speakers to reach out and coordinate a time to speak and share with their supporter. If your relationship with your shepherd is not working, you must flag with us immediately.

We ask that you both confirm you are happy for the presentation to go ahead via the online forms by COB Monday 24 July 2017.

If you are a new speaker, or one who would like some help, please flag this with your speaker shepherd or by contacting If needed, we can organise more help and potentially some practice sessions with kind chairs and helpful reviewers for you in the lead-up to the Conference. It is important that you let us know early so we have time to help you prepare.

We ask all speakers to work together with a presentation ‘speaker supporter’ to create the best possible presentation.

Speaker supporters will help you to finesse elements of your presentation including:

  • Examples used
  • Slide composition
  • Time allocation to each point
  • Public speaking tips
  • Over-arching message / top three take-aways etc
  • Accuracy (does the presentation deliver what was outlined in the session description? If it’s labelled ‘beginner’ or ‘expert’, are these accurate descriptions?)
  • Compellingness – is it interesting? Will this session hold an audience of ~200 people?
  • Balancing the content of your presentation.

Photo, Bio, and Session Description

Please send a High Resolution photograph (about 1 meg) of yourself to as soon as possible if you have yet to do so. If you would like to change your session description or edit your biography, you must make these changes prior to Monday 24 July 2017.

Audio / Visual

If you are planning to use an Audio/Visual presentation, please email your slides to by Monday 14 August 2017. You can download the PowerPoint template here. Please also bring your presentation with you on a USB as a precaution. If the file is very large, we recommend using to send your presentation. Please be sure to package your presentation with any embedded images, fonts, video, and sound before you send it.

Please note that personal laptops will not be accommodated as all presentations will be loaded onto the lectern laptop (Windows OS) at the venue.

The venue will supply a:

  • Lectern and microphone
  • Laptop and remote mouse/‘clicker’
  • Data projector and screen

If you have any additional requirements for your presentation (sound? internet connection? etc), please let us know as soon as possible. Please note, we do not recommend live streaming.

A copy of your presentation, which will be converted to PDF format, will be available on the Service Management 2017 website after the Conference for attendees to download. Please note that you will not be able to provide printed handouts on the day.

Please also note that there will be no fold-back monitor at the venue.

As a speaker at Service Management 2017, you have been given a complimentary registration to attend the two-day Conference and Gala Awards Dinner. You also receive 10% off workshops. To redeem your registration, please use the code and registration link sent to you via email when you register.
Upon arrival at the Sofitel on Collins, Melbourne there will be a nametag waiting for you at the registration desk. Please note there are no physical tickets issued for this event. Please identify yourself as a speaker to one of the friendly SlatteryIT staff members.

We warmly encourage you to attend the whole Conference, however if you are unable to, please let us know your expected times of arrival and departure. Please also email Adina your mobile number in case we need to urgently contact you on the day. Please send through both your arrival and departure times, and your mobile number, by Monday 14 August 2017.

Speaker Prep Room

Speakers will have access to a Speaker Prep Room within the Sofitel on Collins, Melbourne over the duration of the Conference. We will be able to provide the room details a bit closer to the Conference date.
